I've played football all my life and I've never got any better at it, despite practising every week.
The manager does 2 things you can't do; 1) manage very wealthy but bored individuals to play a game week in week out. Motivate them. Understand them. Overcome any tiny issues they have that gives them the minute percentages over their competitors individually and importantly as a team. 2) sell players that aren't good enough or fitting into the team's system and replace them with more suitable alternatives. Example - Matt Smith only works if there's a winger putting the ball on his head. I suspect this happened in training, but for whatever reason didn't happen in games. Smith may have bagged a few on Saturday with our wingers back in form. BmcD has had too many issues thrown on him by the clubs useless owners and previous managers to manage point 1 yet. He's also had his hands tied on point 2. Cellino is clearly an idiot when it comes to football, and that's proven.
