I hesitated before hitting the send button on my earlier message.

I'm so sorry that it "read" that way to you. I really meant it in the
friendliest way. No rancor on my part toward anyone or any particular
behavior.

It is only practical to see the list as a whole, rather than seeing only the
two or three people who are cantankerous.

Sometimes, if you are new to mail lists, it is easy to allow the unpleasant
to loom large, out of all proportion to the reality.

Perhaps I did not make my point as well as I might have. (Apparently, I have
appeared to be cantankerous myself, which I decidedly am not!)
