I hesitated before putting my 2 cents in. But here goes. I agree with Charles (welcome to the group) that as a whole the members of this LUG have been very helpful. I personaly did not notice any significant rude messages. Perhaps that is because I have been exposed to Linux and similar techie newgroups. In comparison this group is just wonderfully kind.
As for Digests, I think the reason it is asked for by so many newcomers to the list is because of the volume of messages per day. That volume can be overwhelming. Everyone feels so enthousiastic and helpful that many feel the need to give their answer to any question that comes in. Often these answers do not add much more "new" information to what was already said in the early replies, but they surely add to the volume of emails. Personally, unless I have something significantly new to add to what has already been said I force myself to not reply to the tread. But that is a rule I broke with this thread ....... Speaking of threads, if the newsgroup had the capacity to thread the messages, it would allow one to delete entire threads one was not interested in and thus markedly reduce the volume to read. Happy New Year everybody. You are a great group.
