What do you mean by 'combine (as opposed to the formal 'merge''. and 'the restore has gone pear-shaped'. Please be more descriptive. You seem to have at least one good backup (implied). You have already tried what I would thing should work. Since it already Sun morning where you are (?), the choices seem to be wait till the below time, or uninstall and reinstall (not my reccommend). IMHO, wait until Legacy staff are in the office to assist you. You may not be doing anything destructive, but waiting a day might be the best move. Sometimes they monitor this on the weekends, but not guaranteed. That is West Coast North America (PST) 9AM or 10AM?. You do not state that you have a good backup, I hope you do.
