Rich, I looked at Merge, but couldn't see how to get the two people I wanted to
merge so I decided to try to combine the two women by renaming the Agnes
UNKNOWN to Agnes DAWSON and then delete the original Agnes DAWSON so the
husband was only linked to the newly named Agnes DAWSON. But in the process I
accidentally deleted the Agnes DAWSON who had all the information I wanted. I
had made a backup, and I tried to restore it so I had both women again. It was
the restore that caused my problem - now resolved thanks to Jenny and Tim (I
deleted the offending Rc3 file). In the meantime, once I managed to get into
my program despite the constant error message, I worked out how to merge the
two women and I have now done that successfully. I had also created another
backup and tried to restore that one, this time getting a message that the fdb
file wasn't recognised. Somehow I resolved that problem but still had the Rc3
problem. I realised the time difference was going to impact on when I might
get an answer but it was time I turned off the PC anyway so I bided my time and
lo and behold Jenny and Tim provided the solution by the time I logged on this
morning!

Cheers
Jan

Subject: RE: [LegacyUG] Restore problems

What do you mean by 'combine (as opposed to the formal 'merge''. and 'the
restore has gone pear-shaped'. Please be more descriptive. You seem to have at
least one good backup (implied). You have already tried what I would thing
should work. Since it already Sun morning where you are (?), the choices seem
to be wait till the below time, or uninstall and reinstall (not my reccommend).
IMHO, wait until Legacy staff are in the office to assist you. You may not be
doing anything destructive, but waiting a day might be the best move. Sometimes
they monitor this on the weekends, but not guaranteed. That is West Coast North
America (PST) 9AM or 10AM?. You do not state that you have a good backup, I
hope you do. Sorry the time zone thing is working against you.
Good Luck
Rich in LA CA
