I would make a GEDCOM and the post it at WorldConnect at Ancestry.com. It would be privatized and open to the public. You will find more connections by having it available to all and you would be surprise to the number of researchers that will find your data. You may then in turn be return be receiving additional data from them. http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igmuser.cgi
The big thing is to use the same GEDCOM name and User Code each time so you do not end up with a dozen or so databases. This will require YOU to remember the database password. So by using the same GEDCOM name, your data will be UPDATED and not just adding another database. I like WorldConnect much more over anything such as Family Search and Ancestry Family Trees, where one must be a member to get to the data. At this time I have 2 databases at WorldConnect and am planning on posting a couple more. http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=abernathy http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=realing Thanks, David C Abernathy Email disclaimers ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- This message represents the official view of the voices in my head. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.SchmeckAbernathy.com == All outgoing and incoming mail is scanned by F-Prot Antivirus == -----Original Message----- From: Larry Maddocks [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, April 17, 2011 10:30 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [LegacyUG] how to do coordinating with family matching to my data to new.familysearch.org Hi, Does anyone have suggestions about how to coordinate with my family organization? I need to go through and match all my ancestors to new.familysearch.org. I am thinking that I just need to: 1. give them a copy of my gedcom file, 2. have them buy Legacy, 3. give them my login to new.familysearch.org 4. Assign them each a family branch to match, 5. Train them, 6. After they complete their assignment, merge everyone's file to mine, then redistribute the gedcom or Legacy files. Has anyone done this?
