Gail. Like you, I also work with several family files and I haven't had the problem you describe. If you the option "Open last used file automatically" ticked. The last used family will be the one that opens. If you tick the option "Always open this file" and select a certain file, that file will always open. In your first paragraph you stated that you have the open last used optioned ticked. I've copied it here. I have chosen as the "always open this file ", the last one that I was working on is the one that opens. I go into option and of course, "open last used family file" is ticked. I apologize if I'm misunderstanding you.
