Hi Pam,

You may be on your way now and hopefully the other responses have been helpful.

When you copy just the fdb file, you lose your clipboards,
relationships, research guidance work, ... but you have all your data.
When you use a backup, depending on what you have ticked, you get the lot.

Backups (zip files) are restored - and you get the option of renaming
the database as it is restored so you can check a backup anytime on
the computer it was made on without overwriting your current database.
fdb files are opened.

Whether or not you use a Legacy media backup is up to you. I don't. I
find it too cumbersome as I have a lot of media attached. I used to
prefer to just copy my media folder. Now I keep attached media in
Dropbox and the Dropbox is connected to both computers.

When you change computer, if the media is on the second computer, you
still probably have to run Tools - Media Relinker unless your Media
Folder List is showing the new codes. The most useful for changing
computer is [Default Media Folder]/... Then when you change computer
you just have to set the Default Media Folder at Option 6.2 on the
other computer and all is well.
However, there is still a problem with Legacy Charting if this is
part of the path for your media.
