I agree with you guys, if the gui behaves just same as other experiences
tell you it will, then the need for a screencast dissapears, while new
users know how to use it on the fly!
Therefore, updating Leo behaviour to match intuitive one means a LOT of
time saved, explaining how it works, and learning to use it. And it used to
be the first wall new leo users had to deal with, although I dont think it
is anymore.
Anyway, before lock-closing this topic, I think a brainstorm focused on
detecting all the tweaks that could make Leo absolutely intuitive would be
a great thing to do, and actually a nice thing to do before stepping away
from the Leo-newbie-friendly renovation time it just went through.
I would consider doing two things about this:
1) A brainstorm, answering some questions like the following, for each
different position (P) the cursor can be in.
- - How to paste information coming from the currently selected (P)?
- - How would I want to paste information coming from previous (P)?
- - Which kind of information from previous (P) is the one I want to
paste in the currently selected (P)?
- - How to store information coming from currently selected (P)?
- - If I store information currently selected in (P), will it delete
my previous information selected in my previous (P)? Should it? or should
it store in different places?
And we should consider (P) ==
- -Header edition
- -Body edition
- -Node selected in the tree
- -Info pane edition
- -Minibuffer
2) Trying other outlining softwares, only the most famous, and check if
they are more intuitive to use than Leo, and why. The results of that
analysis will lead for sure to improvements in the way Leo interacts with
the user.
Edward, your work so far polished most of the answers that can come with
these questions, so I think this would be useful just in case we want to be
extra-meticulous =)
Thanks for your recent work.
