Steve the constituation may be your contract with the government but with most people I can't see how it is a contract with them. Now the document is you might say a contract between state governments but I doubt the state constitutions is binding as a contract on many people outside of state government. No basically the constitution is a claim by government and a promise by government, a sort of truth in adverstisment, a vow by government that it will carry out what any honest individual or honest group has a right to do but the government vows to limit itself even more than the average group in society.
