First off being a member of the party isn't a requirement to be a libertarian. I've attended only a few conventions as the expense isn't worth it. I've registered thousands of people as libertarians and gotten many to join as members. I've done more outreach than you and anyone you personally know combined. I've won awards for this outreach. I was the chairman of the largest county in the United States and increased the number of people who come to the supper clubs from an average of 4 to an average of 17, read nearly every book on libertarianism, and currently am on the Executive Committee of the state with the most libertarians in the country. I've run for office twice as a libertarian and worked on or contributed to the campaigns of at least a dozen other libertarians. I have written articles, spoken at schools, and shared libertarian philosophy with thousands all over the world.
None of that even matters. All it really takes to be a libertarian is to subscribe to the Non-Aggression principle. It doesn't matter where you show up on the Nolan chart. It doesn't matter how much time you spent in the party or who you know in the party. It doesn't matter what you've done in the past. If you think it's ok to use force for any reason other than to defend against a direct attack against you, you're not a libertarian. If you support the notion of "pre-emptive" war, you're not a libertarian.
