Read the first few paragraphs of the following article. Notice what McFarland
is attacking Spencer on? Credentials and lack of Resume!

It's a valid criticism. While Mayor of Yonkers it sort of decent, it doesn't
rise to the level of United States Senator, whereas Mcfarland's background
does.

Kind of reminds you of the Libertarian Party, no? They run someone - Michael
Badnarik - for President of the United States in 2004 WHO WAS NEVER EVEN
ELECTED DOG CATCHER.

Lesson for Libertarians. Credentials in politics matter. If you don't have
'em someone will call you on it.

  Imagine if Badnarik somehow had made it into the debates along with Nader;
Bush, Kerry, Nader & Badnarik. Let's pretend that the liberal media forced the
debate authorities to let in Nader, but then Kerry not wanting to lose all the
votes to the Left, demanded Badnarik be let in, as well (This is not a
far-fetched scenario; remember that Kerry ran against libertarian William Weld
for US Senate and slammed Weld repeatedly for being a "libertarian," so he
knows full well who libertarians are.)

Now imagine that Bush was getting creamed by Badnarik on issue after issue.

Don't you think that Bush would destroy Badnarik in one swoop with the
question, "Mr. Badnarik, though you seem to be a nice fellow... what political
office have you ever held? What qualifications do you have to be Commander in
Chief? I note you never even served in the Military. And how can we take your
views on domestic matters seriously when you've never had to manage budget as I
did for 6 years as Governor of the Nation's 2nd largest State."

The solution is simple; LIBERTARIAN PARTY NOMINATE SOMEONE WITH SOME
BACKGROUND IN 2008 - A JESSE VENTURA OR GARY JOHNSON, at the very least an Ed
Thompson or Don Gorman (!!!) not some Party Activist with little if any
political background.

NEW YORK - The top adviser to Kathleen Troia "KT" McFarland said Friday that
her rival for the Republican Senate nomination, former Yonkers Mayor John
Spencer, lacked the credentials, knowledge and financial backing to mount a

"It would be a very big mistake to think John Spencer — no offense to John,
who I guess was a decent enough mayor — to move him to a level of where anyone
is going to take him seriously as a U.S. Senate candidate," McFarland adviser
Ed Rollins told The Associated Press. "Unfortunately, John Spencer wouldn't
know which side of the Capitol the U.S. Senate meets."
Spencer called Rollins' remarks "arrogant and condescending," and said he
would match his credentials against anyone in the race.
A Republican primary is shaping up in New York between moderate and
conservative forces, pitting McFarland, a wealthy Manhattanite who supports
abortion and gay rights, against Spencer, a tough-talking conservative with
blue-collar roots who opposes abortion.
The winner of the Sept. 12 GOP primary will face Clinton, who's heavily
favored to win re-election in November.

' name=c3> Ronald Reagan's 1984 re-election campaign, said Spencer was too
conservative to win statewide in New York.
And Spencer's experience as Yonkers mayor, Rollins said, offered little
preparation for foreign policy challenges and other matters that come before
the Senate.

Rollins also said Spencer's candidacy would fail to attract Republican donors
who might otherwise be eager to help defeat Clinton.
"If he is the nominee of this party, there are no money people anywhere that
are going to come," Rollins said.
For his part, Spencer dismissed Rollins' "elitist" tone.
"Those are pretty derogatory comments based on zero knowledge of me," said
Spencer, noting his candidacy had persevered while party favorites such as
former Westchester County District Attorney Jeanine Pirro and attorney Edward
Cox had dropped out.
Rollins also had tough words for state Republican Party chairman Stephen
Minarik, who earlier this week indicated he favored Spencer over McFarland.
Rollins said Minarik, in a private conversation, said the party would
consider it a victory to keep Clinton under the 71 percent vote collected by
Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer in his landslide 2004 re-election win over former
Orange County GOP Assemblyman Howard Mills, who had 24 percent of the vote.
"From my perspective, if getting 24 percent of the vote is a victory, than we
probably need a new party chairman and we probably need a new thought process,"
Rollins said Friday.
Minarik aide Ryan Moses dismissed Rollins' characterization of the chairman's
comments as "absurd," saying they were probably made in jest.
"It's crazy to think the Republican state committee's goal is not to have
more than 24 percent of the vote. The focus of the state party is to win
elections," said Moses, the party's executive director.
Rollins added Friday that Adam Goodman, who produced campaign commercials for
New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani's 1997 re-election bid and his short-lived
Senate campaign in 2000, would be McFarland's media adviser. The campaign's
fund raising effort will be led by Ann Dunsmore, a prominent California
consultant. The Tarrance Group will handle polling. McFarland, who announced
earlier this month that she would enter the Republican contest to challenge
Clinton, acknowledged this week she had failed to vote in several elections and
was registered to vote in two places in violation of state law.
