Kiddleddee,
Please use words as though they have meaning. For example: Conspire: "To make an agreement, esp in secret, to do some unlawful deed" Perhaps if you'd substitute "PLANNED" in your rant below, it'd be half way sensible. In your remark, you acknowledge the LRC's action was announced in advance. If the actions were unlawful, then you are accusing the entire block of Convention Delegates of being criminals. Your audacity is quite overwhelming and is repugnant to common sense. I've been in the LP since the Ed Clark campaign in 1980. I've donated in-kind contributions worth many tens of thousands of dollars, and have donated direct contribution of many thousands of dollars. Every month, the LP takes about $45 from my accounts. In 2004, I was a significant player in help the LP membership of Texas get 80,000 petition signatures within about a 10 week window of time. I was on the LP Platform Committee as the member from Texas, and personally supported the retention plank action taken by the delegates in convention. Are you suggesting that I should not have the privilege of voting my conscience in Convention? Broadly speaking . perhaps you think I should do all the work, but allow yourself to make all the big decisions on my behalf. Did you personally take the time to attend the Convention? Did you know prior to the Convention that the Reform Caucus was going to lobby for this action? My guess is your answers are 1) No you did not attend, and 2) Yes you know in advance. Yet now, you use words that inflame & breed ill will . If the LRC keeps having influence in the LP, then perhaps John Stossel may one day consider being a Libertarian Party President of the USA . At which time, he can advise . "Give me a Break!" Respectfully, Guy McLendon Chairman Harris County Texas, America's 3rd Most Populous County Member, Texas Executive Committee In response to: ************************************************************* Posted by: "kiddleddee" <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Jul 16, 2006 10:19 am (PST) --- In <mailto:Libertarian%40yahoogroups.com> [email protected], John O'Hara <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Too many people reacted negatively to the removial of the platform and having a lack of information on why things happened, relied on assumptions to create a conspiracy. Am I really missing something here or is the naivete of some members on this group simply overwhelming. There was indeed a conspiracy. The Libertarian Reform Caucus (or whatever they called themselves) openly and quite loudly CONSPIRED to gut sections of the Libertarian Party platform - hoping to be able to recruit Republicans to the party by removing party opposition to United State foreign policy and federal taxation(among other things). They received a lot of help from the organizers of the convention and from the platform committee itself.
