Do you get to insist that this be run on Internet-connected machines?

Combine this tidbit with the web registration scheme.

When someone hits 'register' they give their info and a key for _their_ machine is created that is valid for 24 hours or as long as they tell you. When someone else tries to run it, chide them for using or making and giving away a copy of your CD then decide whether to blacklist that drive or tell them to come back later.

The option to un-register at exit should be there so a user can legitimately pass the CD on.

They can make all the copies they want, but only one person can run it at a time.

Oof! That was speculation. Unless I'm goofing up somehow, all the drives on my Mac are returning zero for their number. Never mind.
If it's Windows-only, maybe it'll work.?

You can use size and free space and drive name as filters to cut down on the number of copies being used. Is that helpful? Or is it vital that only the one CD works?

Not sure if this will help at all, but discs do have
a serial number, which you can access with either BuddyAPI Xtra's
baDiskInfo function or DirectOS Xtra's dosGetDriveInfo BUT a) it may be
copied when a full copy

No way!!!Tim

I got the following number with a cd inside the cd
drive:
-- 926224883

and the same with NO cds inside it!!
-- 926224883

I think its the number of the CD drive or so.. its not
changing with various CDs put in the drive....
