Quicktime has allowed for tripling the volume for a long time (at
least since qt 1.5).

To SEE this extra headroom, open a QT (w/sound) into Director's QT
Window & shift select the volume control - the bottom third of this
new slider display corresponds to what is usually the full travel
(0-255). Therefore the rest is 'above the top'.

Luckily (in this case), Director hasn't updated it's Quicktime controller bar.
(this also means that the 'scrubber' is also still available:
ctl-click on the step arrows on the right)
