take out that last line, go the frame. Your handler should look like this:

on exitFrame
   sound(4).fadeOut(500)
end

Otherwise, with the "go the frame" statement, you're executing the fadeOut 
command every time the frame cycles--15, 30 times per second, or whatever 
your frame rate is.
