The problem with that is that Director is Frame Based
rather than Time Based. There is no guarantee that the edited time
of your audio track will consistently (or reliably) end at the same
point as your movie each time it is run.
In other words, you will find that you may get the timing correctly
on one machine, but a machine with different specs (proc speed, ram,
projector vs.. SW, CD or off HD, etc..) will have a slightly different
playback time. With short(ish) sounds this is usually not a problem.
But with longer sounds you will have timing issues. (Hence the reason
for cuepoints - but a different discussion all together).
Fading the sound with Lingo is the most elegant and reliable solution.
You should note however that you can not check for sound(n) = 0 in D8
with either FadOut or FadeTo. FadeOut correctly returns the sound
channel volume to the previously "set" volume. But FadeTo INcorrectly
duplicates this behavior in D8. (We fixed this in D8.5 to remain at
the volume that you faded TO.)
