As far as I know, puppetSound hasn't been deprecated. It's still appropriate in a lot of cases--short sound effects and the like. It's also good for a beginner getting her feet wet. The sound commands give us a lot more control over audio--play lists, fades, playing portions of sounds, and the like--so personally I prefer to use them. PuppetSound remains a viable way of playing sound, so it seems logical that I would recommend a beginner familiarize herself with both methods. >I know I've been a lazy-ass programmer and stuck to stuff I already know >(using puppetsound).. Have I been right all along? Now, guys like you, with advanced skills--well, you get to choose your technique :-) The new sound objects aren't hard to learn at all, so yes, I would recommend that any programmer get to know them.
