Unless I'm misspeaking, you open a copy of Director, open the movie, copy the stuff you want, open the movie you want to paste to, paste, and it's there. I hope I'm not confusing this with just copying from a cast, but give it a shot. If all else fails, use "save as" to save a reduced "starter point" for your new movie.
