I feel I have to add my six pence to this long debate on whether or not to
read the behavior scripts.

I myself being an intermediate user have gained most of my more advanced
knowledge from reading behaviours. Within the past 1-2 months I have been
gaining plenty of useful information on sound files, buttons, Xtra's and
many more, all from the behaviors, and I wish I had done it sooner.
However, I have to agree with

"Once you have a good base level of Lingo understanding, then I see the
behaviors as that leg-up to getting to an intermediate level with
ingo."  --> Thomas Higgins.

I started by reading all the books and searching online. As we all know,
the behavior scripts can be full of code which will never be used for the
specific task you are trying to achieve. If I had not read the book, and
searched online for code, I would never have known what to look for and what
to forget about when it comes to the behavios scripts. Now I can look at
the code and see which bits I need, and those I couldn't understand fully
before now become easy to learn.

In short:

Read the behaviors after reading from the book and only when you feel
comfortable with the behavior code itself.

Adios
