If I punch the same IPL deck for a virtual reader IPL to physical cards, attach the 2540 to the virtual machine and IPL from that device number, there should be absolutely no difference than a IPL from virtual reader (other than feeding cards for an hour or two). Barring jams and reader checks, it shouldn't take much longer than that to feed everything.
