The interesting thing about this is that MS compared Linux on zSeries to
Windows on a PC, to come up with a factor of 10 (in favor of MS) for
cost.

Far be it from me to point out that Microsoft is doing my work for me,
but I wouldn't even begin to consider a zSeries consolidation play that
didn't consolidate substantially more than 10 Intel boxes--at which
point, Microsoft itself says that Linux on zSeries is cheaper.  Heh.

(Yes, there are also good reasons *not* related to consolidation to go
with zSeries, but those play to things like reliability of the
environment, in which case, the cost will be much more
enterprise-specific, since the cost of downtime varies wildly by what
the machine is doing.)
