that's great! did you have a chance to try an ipl off a standalone dump
tape?

I was able to get my 3490 drives online to the test LPAR O/S. I didn't
actually run anything to allocate/use a drive but the CHPID, PATH, and
devices all came online.
My 3490's are parallel channel attached and the CHPID is defined as
reconfigurable. I varied the devices and path offline and configured the
CHPID offline to the production LPAR O/S.
I went to the H30's SE and re-assigned the CHPID to the test LPAR. I was
able to config the CHPID online and vary the PATH and devices online to
the test LPAR O/S.
