No I didn't. I varied the devices and path offline and then configured the chpid offline to the production lpar. I went to the H30's SE and reassigned my chpid to the test lpar.
I have z/OS 1.4 running in the test lpar. I went to z/OS's master console and configured the chpid online and then varied the path and devices online. I did a "d u,,,mytapeaddress,16' and saw my tapes online.
