But it is not a HOWTO in anything but name!

What is really needed is a web site that has a search cgi on it to act as the
central repository for ham software for Linux. The site could be made into
a .rmp or .deb file for offline browsing (ok, the cgi scripts may not work
offline....).

A good example is Scientific Applications on Linux http://SAL.KachinaTech.COM
It has description of the software, if .deb or .rpm files exist, and links
to the software. I think Jon's offer to host it at the ARRL is an excellent
idea ( or any well known amateur radio organization).

NO! It is not a HAM-RADIO-HOWTO either. It is an outdated catalog of
linux applications for ham radio. An updated version would be better
called "The Guide to Ham Radio Software on Linux." (And no, it would
not get distributed and installed in the documentation section for most
plain installs of Linux.
