kissattach

Finally am done with the ax25-utils and carried onto setup axport file
and do the kissattach stuff to get my TNC-2 (in kiss mode) up and
running. But each time I try to issue the command I receive; 
TIOCSETD: invalid arguement

My axports file:

1       VE6TVO          9600    255     2       145.070 MHz(2400 bps)

Kissattach command used:

/usr/sbin/kissattach -i XX.XXX.XX.X /dev/ttyS1 1

I/ve recompiled the kernel and did select the ax25 stuff, yet no joy.
What am I missing?
