Up to roughly 28.8kBit/s with G3RUH type modulation would be possible,
but I have too little personal interest to do this anytime soon
(I've some experimental code though).

Not really, there are not many codecs right now for consumer
audio that support more than 50kHz, and AC97 runs at
fixed 48kHz.
