As Sharad said he was in Bangalore, he could contact anyone from ERNET /
NIC there - they'll help him out, especially as they are his direct
upstreams.
Very few people still use uucp these days, but it has one major advantage
- can run on really dinosaur era equipment, and is ~not~ a resource
(memory / hardware) hog. It's also dirt cheap. That's possibly why most
of the Govt. of India is still connected using UUCP (another matter that
their installs are ~extremely~ buggy and even vulnerable to
being rooted).
FWIW, I know some people who still swear by it. Of course, they date back
to that bygone era as well (when T-Rex and Diplodocus roamed the world),
and they practically grew up using UUCP ;)
