        Minicom as shipped with RH doesn't run for non-root users
directly. You need to login as root, start minicom, configure it, save the
settings as default and exit. From then on you can use minicom as a normal
user. For help about minicom, start minicom and press Ctrl-A Z.
        I am attaching a default config file, that you can copy to your
/etc and hopefully it should work.
        One final point, you have to have /dev/modem as a symlink to the
proper serial port device (/dev/ttyS0 or /dev/ttyS1). Do a ln -s ttyS[01]
modem from /dev dir as root to properly set the link.
        If modem is on COM1 (in dos) then say ln -s ttyS0 modem, if its on
COM2 then say ln -s ttyS1 modem.
