I think those parameters are read only while pppd is starting. So you have to
restart pppd to take those changes in effect. The idea is great.
Otherwise you can hack pppd, to make it listen over a pipe( in a thread may be).
Write your value to the pipe and it should work.
But... isn't the client/server at other end supposed to know this too? AFAICT,
it's negotiated when ppp connection gets established. So restarting pppd in only
option. On dialup it will mean a new redial everytime.
But it's good idea to this exercise once to determine best setup for yours.
Somebody(Khader I think ..) suggested somewhere about 576 bytes. I don't
remember exactly...
Please correct me if I am making mistakes...
