[LIH] always_defrag=0

Hi,
  dmesg has a line ..."setting always_defrag = 0" ( loosely quoted). I
couldnt find that on /proc/net/ somewhere. Trembling all over, I managed
to open the kernel source, from where it seems this enables packet
re-assembly.
  Is that what it is, but shouldnt this be pretty much default, why would
one want to receive *un* assembled packets
