I am not saying we should support people writing non standard HTML. All I am saying is that there is a hell lot of HTML files out there in the net and not all of them strictly comply to the standards. Also while developing the browser they took a conscious decision to do their best to show whatever they can out of those corrupt HTML. As for IE it is far from coming close to the standards.
