Mr. Goel,

Your set up is impressive!

But I would suggest you some thing. You can go for some web based module
for your accounting work and you can even customize them as per your
needs.

Because using some thing via telnet is cumbersome. Hopefully you are
agreeing with my statement.

You can go for desktop based applications also, but that I will not
suggest that you as if you release a new version of some application,
all 400 nodes have to update it. But in case of web based things, you
just have to change at one location. You can get better security options
via SSL etc.

If you think web based application is a good idea, I would suggest you
to use PHP+MySql+Apache............. the fastest combination. But I know
some one pointed some bugs in PHP one or two years back..... I think
that person was Raj Mathur....I am not sure............. you can also
use java/jsp/servlet etc, but I would just suggest PHP.

But your setup is really an impressive one, after google (using more
than 2000 Linux servers) I heard first time that some one is using such
a huge number of Linux machines.

Thanks & Regards,
Dheeraj

Yes, Using cobol, we develop the software text based. Now we used the
software using telnet / ssh. The software is in server computing mode,
Using text based sofware, we are able to share a dial-up connection in
15-20 computers for using our ERP. Because band width cost is a major
factor in the implementation of our ERP. Our branches are more than 200.
all branches required 24 Hours internet connections for doing there day
to day activites.
