Hi Jose,

There is a ISP-Hookup HOWTO that you may find useful in case you
haven't read it already.

Another bit of advice is, try first to connect to your ISP with a
simple communication program, like minicom. This allows you to check
that the basic things works (you can talk to your modem, your modem
can connect with the ISP's modems, etc.), and it also allows you to
see exactly what strings you should expect in the chat script (is it
"password:" or "Password", etc.).

For the rest, I cannot really reassure you that you should insist if
you're loosing too much time. I must say that I sometimes feel I'm
loosing too much time, too, and that the reason why I somehow accept
it is I NEED some of the possibilities that Linux offers me. If you
don't, and you basically use your computer for simple email and web
usage, along with word processing, etc., maybe there's no reason for
you to insist so hard. You can go back to a simple OS, and maybe turn
to Linux again when it has got a bit easier to use.

Good luck,

Jacques
