>From the file you sent, I cen't tell which server (accel, svga, vga16, or
mono) you are actually using. But all four entries have the same problem:
the first Mode listed isn't the largest. As I explained in my reply to your
earlier posting, all X11R6 servers create a desktop that is the size of the
*largest* legal mode. (This is not quite the same as the largest mode on the
line, as video memory or timings may cause a mode to be unavailable.) This
is a "feature" of X11 itself, not a property of the KDE desktop.

So, using "accel" as an example, the screen will come up in 640x480 but be a
window on a 1064x768 "virtual" desktop (assuming your video card & monitor
support 1024x768). The "virtual" lines mentioned by Mr. Gallup have effect
only for a virtual desktop that is larger than the largest available mode.

To fix this, you have to decide on the size you want for the desktop, then
make that the *largest* mode available on the Mode line. (It is handy also
to make it the first mode listed, so the screen will default to that size --
otherwise, you have to use some keyboard chord I can never remember to
switch between the modes.)
