I'll give you two, since different people like to work different ways.
1) Windowmaker. It is very similar to Afterstep. Although it uses a bit
more memory than fvwm2, it loads and operates much faster IMHO. It has
a very clean interface that is not cluttered up with extraneous stuff.
If you tend to run everything by way of xterm's, this one is great.
2) KDE. This is a combo windowmanager and desktop. It has a very good
look and feel, but does a lot of stuff which makes it slower than
Windowmaker. It's desktop is somewhere between Windows95 and OS/2 4.0
in functionality. It's file manager is probably the simplest out there
but it still packs a wallop!
And if you can't decide, Windowmaker 0.51 supports KDE, so you can use
both!
