HHV - I think you will have a hard time finding sys admin work, where I work there were hundreds of applicants last time we advertised for a sys admin.
My 2cents: I've heard people say stupid things like that Christchurch is the Silicon Valley of NZ, I wish it were... It's definitely an employers market here, so wages are low - brace yourself for a pay cut.
