And how much more deman is FC2 going to put on my hardware?
Check min'specs online at Fedora?
Yes, if you can - keep modernising your installbase (i.e. curve not curb ;-).Are the benefits there to out weigh the next learning curb?
You get the 'K' under the KDE. Under Gnome you get the red hat.
I got the Red Hat under KDE.
You won't be able to in that case - but it's not the optimum choice here imho. How do I verify that I'm running Gnome given that I selected KDE when I did the install and unselected Gnome from the installation?
You should be able to change selections of video card & monitor from there, as well as res/colors.Sounds like you've logged in under Gnome. That's when you get the System
Settings option. It should first pop up a password box (as you need root
access to reconfigure the screen). Then you should get an applet that's
very much like to Windows "Display" thingy where you can set the type of
card and type of monitor, and then configure to a resolution that both
support...
I already tried that and it says I'm already set to 1024*768
If config doesn't work, maybe that's a KDE problem with it? You probably need to get it going right, & choose some kind of mtr - a Sony range & Generic Laptops 800x600 etc are there to choose from, if probing has failed. Getting the probing result tested & happy at install time is v.impt, I recall - to have it working right thereafter - try again?
It works properly under Gnome - I'd be using that instead.
Just did a kwik flick thru KDE on RH9 & saw no graphical difference ('Bluecurve' is a universaliser of the interface implemented in this distro). Many/all? K(ppp etc) programs can be found thru Gnome anyway. The Workspace Switcher program icons alone are worth having Gnome for, productivity-wise. Try it - you'll like.
Cheers DonIt's a worthwhile distro, for simplified install - others may/not be as/more successful.
Good luck
