By the way vga=791 is not a grub option, it is a linux kernel option.

bedrock = reliably persistent, a foundation on which to build.

Specialisation is good - each to there own (distro range).
The people involved in a project can only (best) deploy what they know.

Because the reference was to building a *nix Access Point - rather than deftly plugging a wireless hub into an ADSL modem, and then scanning for that AP - the comment is irrelevant.
