I'm a big fan of iriver gear. I have a 20 gig iriver and it's brilliant - mp3, wav, wma & ogg. It has optical in, out, line in & out, built in mic, external cable mic, and a huge number of configurable features. I haven't tried any of the < $200 irivers, but from what I've heard their non hard drive models are very good as well.
