Hi all,

My thanks to all who responded. I am still trying to sort the problem so in the meantime I started a record of performance, notes below.

----------------------
The box is a stand alone unit, running mageia3 64 bit. the router is a Belkin N150 with latest firmware installed. connected to a Surfboard cable modem supplied by Telstra. The router will not display correct local time, it appears stuck on Jan/1/2000 but the mins/secs are continually updating. Nothing else connected at the time of the problem.

The distance between router and box is <> 14M through wood framed gib walls

28/11/13 strangely tonight it appeared ok for the short time I used it

29/11/13 13.35 rebooted router & modem using switch on wall.
Changed to channel 13. BUMMER this changed ip from 192.168.2.7 to 192.168.2.2 & shut me out of admin until I reset it again.

At 1700 hrs I pinged router and telstra & paradise mail
[barry@TheBox ~]$ ping 192.168.2.1

Hi All,

Over the last few months I have had a lot of trouble getting a
connection in the evenings. Often my mail connection times out, and
browser times out waiting for google or stuff.co.nz. or to access a
link. If I want to send an email I have to save it for sending the next day

Also at night I can not log into my router, presumably because the
router is having trouble making a connection to telstra

These problems seem to have been since Vodafone took over Telstra.

During the day I do not have any problems

Any ideas on how to fix the problem welcome, change provider??

TIA

Barry
