I was talking with Barry on the phone yesterday afternoon. Running; iwlist $ifname scan showed one other access piont so congestion is unlikely. Barry's troublesome machine has two wi-fi interfaces. One is a built in interface which he cannot get to work and the other is USB wi-fi dongle which does work. When Barry ran route -n the non working interface shows up in the routing table. Unfortunaetly I was pressed for time so was unable to provide Barry with further assistance other than suggest he try to shut down the non working interface and see if that results in an improvement.
