Derek, this is the Telstra cable modem service, not some pesky *DSL
offering.

Where did people get the impression Barry is talking about wireless?
Barry, if however you have failed to establish whether the problem is
between your laptop and the cable modem or between the cablemodem and
Telstra, don't waste your time complaining to Telstra about your wifi.
In that case most likely all your neigbours have turned theirs on too
and everyone is interfering with everyone else's signal. Changing
channel is your only option. And ask questions better next time ;-))

Where?
Step 1 in diagnosing customers problem is always to ignore the
analysis provided by the customer and consider only the evidence. (1)

**Works some of the time, not others.

two options:
 a) the cable modem is maxed out (possible - evening is high load time)

 b) there is a wireless link.

If you haven't figured it out by now, I hate wireless. My feeling is that it has
over promised and under supplied.

Cheers,
 Derek.

(1)this does mean you have to accept the evidence from the customer. If you
ignore their diagnosis, and their evidence, it is not good.
