Will try. Thanks!

Hmmm...then I wonder why the ATI site had me download a script to find
the version? It didn't work, BTW. I'm sure that it was user error. I
ran it as root, but maybe I didn't put it in the right place or pass the
correct parameters.

128 Mb ATI Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card with TV out and DVI, for one.
I don't use/care about the TV Out or DVI right now, but I do want 3D
acceleration, the full memory capability and optimal resolutions. I'd
like to be able to see those really cool screensavers even if I can't
find any real games. The other problem is a Creative Labs SoundBlaster
Live with 5.1 support. I've gotten two results - a high pitched
squeal and no sound at all. It still works fine in XP. I did have a
keyboard problem, but, since I hadn't gotten very far, I reinstalled and
it went away. I did it exactly the same as the first time, but I coulda
been holding my mouth right. <G> The DVD +RW plays and reads, but
doesn't appear to want to write.

So far you are right. All I've read in Google, though, suggests that
some of the fixes can only be properly done through the command line.
That's my last resort and I'll have to collect more information first.
Thank you for your help.

Everest System report - From XP. I don't know that Linux has detected
the hardware correctly and the Windows report matches the hardware I was
sold.
