:I have thought so much how your idea is needed becuse many non
profits starts wut one guy doing evry thing and that is were i am at
and you know big companies upgrad all the time and usaly the old
stuff goes to a dark courner gathering dust and even if it is a 2007
model it stillhas use for some one starting a non profit I don't
belive there is any place out there that does this.

It's defiantly something I have been thinking about, and I would
really like to do it, but like I said, there are just too many
variables. How do you go about deciding who gets what ? How do you
know someone will say it is for their child, then either take it
over themselves or sell it ?
And of course, you have to consider support. How could I be
expected to support every one that I give away. So much seems to go
wrong with peoples computers, the people who don't know what they
are doing of course, but how much support should you give someone
who got the computer for free in the first place.
And my plan of using ubuntu instead of windoze would mean a few
hardware limitations, main problem being with a dial up modem. And I
would be dealing with donations so there would be no control in
that.
I know these companies literally throw away better equipment than
even I have, and to get a tax break for donating to a non profit
would be in their best interest. There are companies out there
called "recyclers" who mainly deal with off lease equipment and they
sell it of course. I wish we had one of those around here.
It would really be a great thing, I even thought about asking for
volunteers who would help train the elderly around here to use
computers, just the basic stuff, and include that in the business.
Free of course.
Maybe someday I could get it off the ground, but for now, it just in
the what if stage and until someone can suggest how and why I would
choose, I just don't know.
