Despite not being a Linux hardware compatibility list, the OpenBSD HCL for i386 lists cards that have open drivers (in all cases I have looked it up they exist both for Linux and for OpenBSD). http://www.openbsd.org/i386.html#hardware ...and scroll down a bit on that page.
