That's how I run XP. I have a Linux box with Virtualbox installed and an XP install. I fire it up when I need to test something. I also have an old version of Java pinned into it so I can access an ancient app that doesn't work with modern java. > I don't have media for XP but I do have the sticker on my computer; I believe > that's the license. > Anyone know how to get media I can use to create a virtual box instance? The sticker is the license, yes, as long as it's not just the basic "Designed for Windows XP" sticker and is an actual COA (Certificate of Authority). And if you're installing it on the same computer that the sticker came on (same mobo, same CPU, same HD controller), it will accept the license because when XP is launched inside the VM, it doesn't know it's not running on bare metal. Your problem is you need the media. In the case of Dell Hardware, installing Windows is a simple process because it recognizes the hardware and immediately activates it (built into the media). Contact the mfr of your machine (OEM's are the only places that provide the XP sticker license that I've ever seen).
