Maybe, maybe not. Don't forget that the blades of plasma sabers won't
break. If they're easy to maintain, the money you save on replacing
broken blades might offset the increased per unit cost. You just
can't make assumptions when it comes to these sorts of things,
particularly when we're talking about future tech. It's why you have
to focus first and foremost on the assumptions of the setting and
then extrapolate from there. Anything else is comparing apples and
pomegranates.
