Ah. So, short of an alien invasion menace or an A.I. revolt we'd end up
with the same thing. That's why I prefer the side stories. It's still
in the same universe, in a known area of the timeline but instead of
massive battles it can boil down to smaller engagements with less suits
and give us a glimpse of the big picture from time to time for variety.
I think a big problem is the alternate universe Gundam shows. They sort
of seem to be a cheap reimagining of original concept. But each time
it's done it floods the toy market and model market with dozens of new
mech designs. After a while nobody cares. It's too many of them, no
real reason. Better to pace the new designs and keep it within the
established universe and, from time to time, release improved or
retconned versions of known designs.
