This is why I'm in favour of having them onboard and moving onwards.
Let me state first that I don't think that it was TM interests that stopped
the introduction of new gTLDs, but, as I said, I believe they were among the
groups that were against such action.
Considering that they had some good reasons (from their point of view) to
take their position, I prefer to discuss these reasons and come to an
agreement on how to introduce new gTLDs avoinding the greater part of these
problems rather than to have a blind opposition from outside.
It feels good to get together in few people that think alike, but on the
global scale it does not make us progress very much until we cannot figure
out a way to communicate with all the other people that group together
around different ideas.
If we refuse to bring the Trademarks aboard, how can we relate with them
other than by blind mutual opposition? And where will this bring us?
Roeland, think also that the Trademark people are themselves not
enthusiastic to join the DNSO, where they know that they will face a lot of
different points of view, but they are trying to cross the Rubicon, because
they understand that there's no viable alternative.
Regards
Roberto
